We’re excited to unveil version 7.2.0 of BlueTrace, which introduces powerful new tools to improve your seafood inventory management, traceability, and operational efficiency. This update addresses feedback from our pilot and includes features tailored for distributors who handle a variety of products. Let’s dive into the highlights of this release.


Enhanced Inventory Calculations for Complex Packaging

During the pilot, we identified friction points related to packaging transformations. For example, users purchasing shellstock in 100-count bags but selling it as 10-pound bags encountered issues with inventory calculations. This was further complicated when breaking cases into smaller units, such as selling individual packs from a multi-pack case. We’ve addressed these issues, ensuring that inventory calculations now accurately reflect different packaging and selling units of measure.

Whether you’re receiving cases, breaking them down, or transforming packaging sizes, your remaining inventory will now be calculated correctly and reflect these transformations.


New Features for Inventory Management

Item Transformations and Packaging Descriptions
We’ve improved the way the system handles item transformations and packaging descriptions. Now, transformations across items are smoother, making it easier to track and manage inventory changes without confusion or errors.

Duplicate and Deactivate Items
To support your need for quick changes or product variations, we’ve introduced the ability to duplicate an item with just a few clicks. This feature is perfect for when you need to create similar items with minimal changes. Additionally, we’ve made it possible to deactivate items that are no longer being sold, ensuring you can preserve historical data without cluttering your active inventory.

Improved Item Detail Load Time
We understand that time is money, and waiting for item details to load can be frustrating. Our team has worked hard to speed up item detail load times, providing you with faster access to the information you need.

Advanced Traceability for FSMA 204 Compliance
In preparation for FSMA 204, we’ve made significant updates to how traceability lot codes are generated and managed. For distributors dealing with a wide range of products, the traceability of inventory is critical. We’re moving away from using Shellfish Dealer Licenses in our traceability codes and introducing a flexible code system that can be customized and inherited from the first dealer in the supply chain.

You can now configure lot codes on the web, auto-fill them in forms, and update them when copying lots—all while maintaining compliance with new regulations. This feature is crucial for distributors managing traceability across different types of products.

 

Bug Fixes and Optimizations

We’ve also squashed several bugs to ensure smoother performance across the platform:

  • Resolved an issue where saving a new password on the web caused other fields to blank out.
  • Fixed missing icons for various types of fish in iOS.
  • Addressed inconsistencies in contact data between web and iOS.
  • Corrected a broken help link that previously led to a 404 page.
  • Improved the lot-picking screen in the Distributor app to prevent jumpiness.
  • Fixed multiple inventory adjustment issues to ensure accuracy and consistency.
