BlueTrace Product Update: The Latest from the Summer Releases

Simplify Your World, Save You Time and Boost Your Margins

Running a seafood business means juggling emails, orders, weights, lots, and supplier payments — often all before your coffee gets cold. Our latest round of updates is aimed squarely at that reality: less manual entry, faster order turnaround, and clearer visibility into where you're actually making money.

Here's what's new and improved.

1. Sales Inbox: Never Miss Another Order

BlueTrace now reads incoming customer emails automatically and drafts sales orders for you — no typing required. Come in each morning and your orders are already sitting there, ready to review. Confirm them, hand them to the team, and get packing.

It's one of the simplest ways to cut morning order entry down to minutes.

2. Catch Weight: Not All Fish Are Created Equal

Seafood doesn't fit neatly into "order one thing, ship the same thing." Catch Weight tracking solves that by letting you manage products by both count and actual weight:

  • Order and purchase by count (6 fish, 25 boxes)
  • Receive and ship by actual weight
  • Invoice based on the real weight of what's shipped

The result: your purchasing and sales teams can keep working in units (boxes, fish) while your invoicing stays accurate down to the pound.

3. Settlements and Purchase Profitability

Know your real margins — even on transformed product. Buy a tuna, cut it into loins, ship it out to five different customers at five different prices, and BlueTrace shows you the profitability instantly, fees and processing costs included.

Our new Settlement Wizard also takes the guesswork out of supplier payments, calculating exactly what you owe based on what was actually purchased and processed.

4. FIFO Auto-Allocation on Sales Orders

Speed up order fulfillment with automatic lot allocation. Need a specific lot for a specific reason? The "Select Lots" option is still there. This works on the phone and iPad as well as the desktop.

5. Customizable Traceability Lot Codes (TLCs)

TLCs will be required by the FDA.  You can now be build TLCs from the data points that matter to you: item name, country of origin, box number, your internal lot number, harvest date, purchase number, supplier name, and more. Three random digits are added automatically to guarantee uniqueness. Compliance that is actually useful to the rest of your business.

6. Data Summary on Purchases and Sales Orders

Bigger, more complex orders just got easier to manage. A new data summary view helps you keep track of everything happening on larger purchase and sales orders at a glance.

7. Email Purchase Orders and Sales Orders Directly

Sending a sales order now automatically includes the Bill of Lading (once the order is packed) — all delivered as PDF attachments. One less manual step between packing and paperwork.
